PASTORAL CARE

Being a church family together means walking alongside and caring for one another through life.

Our Connect Groups are the foundation of this care, where relationships are built and support naturally happens in community.

There are times in life when we face challenges that go beyond what can be supported within a Connect Group setting. In these moments, additional care may be needed. That’s why we have a Pastoral Support Team — a group of trusted, trained individuals available to provide spiritual support, prayer, encouragement and guidance during difficult seasons.

Our Pastoral Support Team are:
  • Spiritual encouragers
  • Compassionate listeners
  • Prayerful supporters
  • Bearers of Christ’s love
  • Present and available
  • Connectors to resources

If you’re navigating something that requires more focused or ongoing support, your Connect Group leader can help connect you with someone from the Pastoral Support Team, or you can reach out directly using the form linked below.

Good to be aware: Our team are not licensed counsellors. Should professional help be needed, our team can help recommend therapists for you to speak with.

CONFIDENTIALITY

At the heart of pastoral care is trust. We are committed to providing a safe and respectful space where individuals can share openly, knowing that what they say will be handled with care and discretion.

Confidentiality is central to our approach so:
  • Private conversations remain private.
  • We will not share details with others without your consent.
  • If external help is necessary this will be discussed with you prior to connecting you with the external provider.

While confidentiality is a priority, there are rare exceptions where we may be ethically or legally required to break confidentiality, even without consent. This would only happen if:
  • There is a clear risk of serious harm to yourself or others.
  • There is disclosure or suspicion of abuse, particularly involving children or vulnerable adults.
  • A court or legal authority requires the disclosure of information.

Your trust matters to us. If you have any questions about this policy or need clarification at any time, please speak to a member of the Pastoral Support Team.

CONNECTIONS

Redeemer also connects with a network of external support services that provide specialised care and assistance. More information about this can be found on the Loving Our Neighbour page.
